Nancy Richard, 79, was killed around 7:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, when her husband, Peter Richard, 83, was backing out of the driveway of their home on Concord Drive and hit his wife as she returned from walking their grandchild to the bus stop, police said.

Nancy Richard was transported to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Peter Richard, 83, the grandson of the founder of P.C. Richard's, was not injured.

Peter Richard, 83, helped run the powerhouse electronics and appliance giant founded by his grandfather, Pieter Christian Richard in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn in 1909.

Nancy and Peter Richard, noted Long Island philanthropists, just last year donated $3.5 million to Stony Brook University’s children's hospital to establish the Pediatric Emergency Department Fund.
